What they want you to know. As a way to celebrate passing the CFP® exam, I brought the Playing with Fire documentary to my local theater. The next day I walked into work and found out the bank I worked for was being bought out by another bank who I quickly found out was not interested in providing holistic financial planning to it's clients. Because of my own pursuit of Financial Independence I was in a position to leave my well-paying job and start my own financial planning firm that helps people along their financial journey and also allows me the flexibility to be present for my family.

FINANCIAL COACHES

FIRE financial coaches take a more comprehensive approach to financial planning, helping individuals to better understand their overall financial situation. Financial coaches typically aim to provide a more holistic understanding of personal finance. This includes exploring spending habits, budgeting, debt management, and investment strategies.

While the pursuit of financial independence and early retirement (FIRE) is a common goal for many, the path to achieving this goal can vary greatly from person to person. A financial coach can assist individuals in exploring different options and approaches to reach their FIRE goals, ultimately empowering them to make informed decisions about their finances.

FIRE MINDED MORTGAGE PROFESSIONALS

Certified mortgage planners offer a more comprehensive approach to mortgage planning by taking into consideration a person’s overall financial goals, including FIRE. Unlike traditional mortgage brokers who focus solely on the transaction, certified mortgage planners are equipped with a deeper understanding of the financial landscape, including tax implications, real estate investment planning, and cash flow analysis. They can be considered as financial planners for mortgages and can effectively structure a mortgage that aligns with a client’s FIRE goals.

With multiple paths to FIRE, a good mortgage planner can help clients achieve their financial independence and retire early dreams by understanding their FIRE needs and asking the right questions.

Niche First-time home buyers all the way through to people looking to get their mortgage paid off to fit with their FIRE goals.
Do you sell insurance products or annuities? No
How do you make money? Commission based on loan amount, no hidden lender fees charged like most banks and brokers
Offerings, pricing structure, and AUM Mortgage professionals are almost always paid the same. The difference is the mentality of a mortgage planner who cares more about the client's FIRE goals instead of trying to sell a larger loan amount for a higher commission.
Percentage of clients pursuing FIRE 25% or less
What they want you to know. Mortgage lenders aren't typically thought of when thinking about financial freedom, and I'm trying to do my part to fix that and provide people much better advice that incorporates mortgage planning eith their overall holistic financial picture because a person's home/mortgage is typically the biggest asset and biggest liability at the same time. Not to mention there are so many mortgage implications with real estate investing and house hacking which are both heavily used by the FIRE community.
